Booster Coil pushbutton) HOLD UNTIL ENGINE STARTS

WARM UP/BEFORE TAXI
[ ] Open the throttle to give
1000 RPM IN COLD WEATHER (+10 and below)
WARM UP AT THIS SPEED UNTIL OIL
AND COOLANT TEMPERATURES BEGIN TO RISE.
TAXIING MAY BEGIN IMMEDIATELY
AFTER A TEMPERATURE RISE IS NOTED.
[ ] Check brake pressures
(Press shift+6 to display triple pressure gauge)
Minimum for taxi - Pneumatic
supply pressure 200 lbs/sq/inch, brake pressure at each wheel 80
lbs/sq/inch.
[ ] Radios AS REQUIRED
ENGINE RUN-UP
[ ] Parking Brake - SET
[ ] Open throttle slowly to 4
lbs/sq/inch boost pressure/2250 RPM (take care not to exceed this power setting
to avoid a noseover).
[ ] Check operation of the
constant speed prop by decreasing the prop RPM to low using the prop control
lever in the VC, or on the Engine Controls Window (Shift+2), or by pressing
CTRL+F1. RPM should fall to 1800. Return the prop lever to the high rpm
position and observe that the RPM returns to 2250. In cold weather the prop
should be cycled this way several times to bring warm oil to the dome and avoid
sluggish operation in flight.
[ ] Check the operation of left
and right magnetos by tuning to OFF first the Left magneto switch and then the
RIGHT. RPM drop must not exceed 150 RPM.
[ ] Supercharger push pull
control pull to engage S GEAR, observe slight RPM drop. Push to return to
M GEAR for takeoff.
[ ] Oil Temperature CHECK
[ ] Coolant Temperature - CHECK
[ ] Fuel Pressure Warning Light
- OUT ABOVE 800 RPM
[ ] Fuel Pressure - +11 psi at
2250 RPM

TAKEOFF AND CLIMB
[ ] Brakes RELEASE
[ ] Throttle Open slowly to
the gate position (+9 lbs/sq/inch boost 3000 RPM.
[ ] Rotate 80-90 MPH
[ ] Landing gear RETRACT
before 120 MPH (pitch up if necessary to avoid exceeding the 120 MPH gear
speed).
[ ] Power- reduce to 6
lbs/sq/inch boost pressure (maximum of +9 lbs/sq/inch may be used for climb 1
hour limit).
[ ] Prop 2600 RPM (maximum of
2850 RPM may be used for climb).
[ ] Trim SET rudder NOSE
RIGHT AS REQUIRED
[ ] Airspeed in climb 140/160
